Can a 6 week old laugh ?

Last night I was cuddling with Levi after he had been sleeping for a while. He face was kinda sideways on my chest. I started to run my finger from the top of his head to the side of his cheek, and he smiled. My first reactions was, “Oh it musta been gas, and he is just reacting to that.” I decided to check my theory….and he smiled again. I did it one more time, this time he smiled AND chuckled…..I thought NO WAY !!!! So I did it again, and again I got a smile and a chuckle - I yelled for Stacy to bring the camera…I got a small smile for the camera…and another chuckle ! I asked her to get the video camera, of course by that time he was done entertaining us. But I heard it and it made my whole month ! Just for the heck of it I googled when babies typically laugh, most people said 4 months…but Levi is anything but typical !

Well the 4th of July was full of fireworks for us, not the normal kind. You know the kinda stuff that happens that is crazy and leaves you saying wow. For starts we were getting ready to hang out with our friends for a 4th of July pool party. We let Micah walk out on the porch while we grabbed the bags…I walked out to Micah munching on something. At first I thought he must have gotten a cookie, since it apreared that he had melted chocolate chips on his face. Upon closer inspection it was dirt, I quickly purged his mouth and found a June Bug wing…nice. He was more upset that I took something out of his mouth that he was enjoying, then chewing a little bug. Stacy said something to the effect of how gross it was, I mentioned (since Micah is a boy) this was just the first of MANY bugs to lose their life to his curiosity. The score Littlejohns 1 Bugs O.

So we made it to the pool party, had a great time hanging out with our friends. Micah and I went swimming and had a great time together, while Stacy hung with the girls and loved on Levi. When I came over Stacy mentioned that there are fireants everywhere and for me to be careful, she had already been bitten a few times. We ate, talked to our friends, and then got ready to leave. As Stacy was getting Levi ready we both got bitten quite a few times by the fireants. We got in the car and Stacy started to nurse Levi, no sooner had she finished nursing then she started feeling really weird. He skin was breaking out into hives, and it appreared that rash was spreading over her body. We quickly went to  Walgreens to get some benadryl thinking that would take care of what was going on. We got home, she took the benadryl and took a shower, by the time she got out at least 40% of her body was affected by hives and a rash, we called the hospital - they had us call 911. 3 minutes later (thank you Leander Fire dept for being so quick) I had 7 firemen/ems guys in my living room checking Stacy out. By that time she could only hear out of 1 ear and complaining that she was having a issue breathing. After checking her out, they advised (wisely) that she be taken into the hospital to be looked at further. So the ambulance took Stacy in, I got a friend to watch the kids, and was at the hospital about 15 minutes after her. The Dr ended up giving her some oral steriods, but by the time she got to the hospital the swelling and rash started to decline. About an hour later they sent her home, told her to stay away from fireants and that she most likely would have to carry an epi pen from now on. Needless to say Littlejohns 1 Bugs 1. Stacy is fine now, but it was scary to say the least. I can’t imagine my life without my best friend, and I don’t want to.

Alot of people have mentioned how different Micah and Levi look. I found these picture that I took within a few hours of their births. I was surprised to see how much they look alike. Really the biggest difference I see is Micah has Angelina Jolie lips and Levi doesn’t. What do you think ?

I’m really surprised at how well Micah has adjusted to Levi. In the morning when Micah wakes up and sees Levi he gets super excited and runs to where he is. Throughout the day Micah goes up to Levi and watches him, and even offers his pacifier at times !

Insert major cheese here !

If you do not know me well you may be surprised to learn, I am a major cheesy dad. Anything that remotely comes close to being cheesy I not only embrace the cheesy I tell everyone that will listen to me, look at the pic or watch the video. WARNING IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY CHEESY LOOVY DOVEY THINGS…LEAVE NOW…you have been warned !

So this morning Micah was hanging out watching a movie, Levi was on the couch next to me sleeping and Stacy was in the kitchen. Suddenly, with out warning or provocation Levi woke up and started crying. Micah ran over to him with something in his hand and offered it to Levi. At first I thought Micah was going to throw a toy or something at Levi, but much to my surprise Micah gave a love offering to Levi; by offering a pacifier. I smiled with such joy and excitement at Micah and gave him a big hug. Micah looked at me and smiled as if to say. “Hey dad..this pacifier thing works when I cry, I bet it will help Levi when he cries too.”
